A pretty fair manager John Farrell is out in Boston not able to get along with the bosses. Interesting to see if Farrell ends up in Queens managing the Mess or perhaps the Phillies. And I read where Buck Showalter may be headed to Philadelphia if he can't get a contract to his liking. Let the merry go round commence before the WS when papal maneuvers are halted until that festival ends.

Just when it looked like the Nats might knock off the Cubbies...Dusty Baker had to go re-up his nitwit status...what a clown...

Yet another devastating first round playoff loss for the Nationals. The fourth time this has happened in the last six years over the course of the Harper/Strasburg era (2012-2017) and all against different opponents (Cards in 2012, Giants in 2014, Dodgers in 2016, and now the Cubs in 2017). I would have to believe that Dusty Baker is gone as a result of this latest debacle. Surprised that they would have hired him in the first place, given his history of managing past post-season collapses in San Francisco, Chicago, and Cincinnati.

But even more so than the Nationals, I still believe that October's most heartbreaking team is the Cleveland Indians. As of next year, it is going to be 70 years since their last championship. And with their history of bad post-season losses (1954, 1995, 1997, 2007, 2016, 2017, etc.) they have now in terms of current quantity of years of futility surpassed the Cubs, Red Sox, and White Sox, who have all won championships over the course of the 2000's, with the Red Sox having won in 2004, 2007, and 2013, the White Sox in 2005, and the Cubs in 2016.

Dusty Baker, Clown, what did he say...Baker, an old-school baseball traditionalist, was scrutinized for the Cubs’ declining productivity. Baker has said that putting men on base can be unimportant and merely "clogging up the bases." NITWIT! NITWIT!

Anxious to see Yu Darvish against Cubs. This trade might help send them to another WS while Texas got a nice young bat for next seasons edition.

Both home teams (Houston and LA) hold serve by taking command with 2-0 series leads with the scenes shifting to New York and Chicago respectively.

The Yankees have been down this road before very recently in the division series against Cleveland when they came from behind to win the series, while the Cubs overcame a 3 to 1 game deficit also against Cleveland in the 2016 World Series.

New York can hang its hat on the fact that they were right on the Astros' heels in both games (losing by 2-1 final scores), which featured brilliant starting pitching performances by Keuchel and especially Verlander.

Insofar as the Cubs are concerned, they have not been getting the same level of production to this point from Bryant and Rizzo, that they received from them in the post-season a year ago. One would figure that will change with the series moving to Wrigley where they will go up against 3 and 4 starters as opposed to 1 and 2. But we shall see.

I'm sorry but when baseball in all its infinite greed starts a Cubs playoff game this week at 9 o'clock Eastern time from Windy rainy cold Illi noise they take the anticipation suspense out of it. The days of Curt Gowdy & Tony Kubek calling DAYTIME playoff \ world series games is a sweet memory.

And here's hoping Girardi in that other garden spot DA Bronx doesn't pull CC Sabathia the portly lefthander in the 3rd inning because he struggles to tie his shoes.

Good job by the Yankees in getting one into the W column. But it will be a quick turn around with Game 4 coming up tomorrow at 5 EST.

BTW, what the heck has happened with Betances? You could tell that Joe Girardi has lost complete confidence in him because he cannot seem to do anything now accept walk batters. And this from a guy who was once thought of to be the Yankees closer of the future not all that long ago. Something tells me he will be wearing a different uniform next season. Is he going to become the second coming of Jaba Chamberlain? I hope for his sake he is not.

Speaking of uniforms, gotta love this picture. Aaron Judge and Jose Altuve, the long and short of it.
