Quote: You know what I hate instant replay. Like the DH and the rest of the bullshit they have shoved down the throat of the public. Maybe Girardi was going old school didn't think to bother to throw the red...

I agree, Chad Green sucks...but, remember earlier in the season when seemingly clueless Joe was the last guy on the planet to realize that Tyler Clippard sucks...we probably would've won the division if we could have some of those games back....

In all fairness, Chad Green was a major cog in the Yankees bullpen throughout the season and was one of those along with David Robertson who prevented the wilcard game against Minnesota from getting out of control when Luis Severino was getting hammered in the first inning.

But having said that, Green just did not have it in Game 2 against Cleveland. Proving that the strategy of overtaxing the bullpen is going to work in some instances but not in others.

Insofar as Joe Girardi is concerned, I don't believe he should get fired. But it certainly was a terrible game for him by any and all objective analyses. The quick hook on Sabathia when he seemed to be cruising with an 8-3 lead, the non-challenge of the phantom hit batter which was followed by the Lindor grand slam and the decision in extra innings to remove Todd Frazier for a pinch runner Torreyes, who subsequently got picked off were all costly moves, which contributed significantly to the Yankees defeat.

What's more Girardi made it worse in the post-game press conference by making excuses such as explaining the decision not to challenge the hit by pitch call by saying that he did not want to disrupt his pitcher's rhythm instead of accepting personal responsibility for the blunder.

Regardless, the Yankees are in a big hole. Can they come back? Theoretically yes. But in truth, I do not see New York sweeping 3 in a row from the Tribe any more than I see the Red Sox accomplishing the same feat against the Astros.

The Washington Cubs series is fascinating. On the one hand Dusty Baker goes up against the defending champs and it's on to Wrigley. Can Dusty and the Nationals survive a 2 game set at Wrigleyville ?

I don't wish any ill toward Joe Girardi...I have some good, vintage hemlock that I'd like him to sample...Girardi is soooooo lucky the old man is dead...he'd have been fired already.

Sabathia beating Cleveland in game 5 would be Shakespearian irony. The conquering hero comes home ...Next up Houston and that salthy lineup of veterans ( Beltran McCann the ex Yanees ) and young studs Altuve Springer Correria Bregman ...Then you have to get by Verlander and Keuchel games uno dos hmmmm. Tall order.

Meanwhile the NL sets up as a repeat of 2016 NL Championship Dodgers Cubs unless Dusty Baker and he Nats pull some magic and bring that series back to the Naval Yards in D.C. .

An interesting bit of trivia is that the Yankees and Indians have met two previous times in the Division series prior to this year spaced exactly 10 years apart.

In 1997, when the Tribe defeated the Yankees 3 games to 2 in a series that is most remembered for Sandy Alomar Jr.'s game winning homerun off Mariano Rivera in the bottom of the 9th of Game 4.

And again in 2007, when the Indians won in 4 games in a series that is most remembered for the midges swarming around Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain in Game 2. Incidentally, Game 4 of that series would be the last game that Joe Torre would ever manage in a Yankees uniform.

What shall happen in Game 5 between these two teams in 2017? You have to figure that Kluber will be much better in this game than he was in Game 2. But on the other side of the coin, the Yankees have unquestionably turned this series around with 2 consecutive victories facing elimination. And with C.C. Sabathia once again returning to his old stomping ground, it makes for a most exciting matchup.

Congrats to those Yankees. Beat a club that won an unimaginable 22 straight regular season games and had no doubt it's sights set on another WS. Now it's on to Houston and if New Yawk can crack the Keuchel Verlander walnut and grab a game down in Texas who knows it's back to the Bronx and the rabid flock.

And in the National league the Cubs may be the next WS contestant from 2016 to go home early.

Outstanding come from behind series victory by the Yankees. Having said that, I wonder how many of those individuals who wanted Joe Girardi fired after Game 2 still feel the same way now.

Conversely, yet another horrible series loss for the Indians. A franchise who has not won a championship since 1948. When you win 101 games in the regular season, have the league's best record (including an AL record setting 22 consecutive victories) and subsequently blow a 2 game to none lead in the Division series, there is no other way to look at this season except with disappointment and frustration.

Speaking of which, we will see if the Washington Nationals can at long last win a playoff series. Even if they do get by the Chicago Cubs, given Dusty Baker managed teams playoff history, one could definitely visualize the same thing happening again (ie the collapse or meltdown), whether it be in the LCS or World Series.

I think the Girardi brain lock in G2 is what inspired the team to this miraculous recovery...that being said..I'm not a fan of Joe...I think he overmanages...is too quick to pull the starter, and he sticks with guys too long after they've lost it(Betances and Clippard)...
