As has been stated on this thread, there really in no clear cut consensus with regard to Hef's legacy. He meant different things to different people, but I will most remember him as a powerful, influential voice in advancing the cause of freedom of sexual expression. Particularly at a time when sexually explicit material was nowhere near as readily available as it is today.

As previously mentioned, the g/g component or lack of it in Playboy was definitely a shortcoming, as was the fact that the magazine itself did get overly political. After all, who wants to think about politics when looking at a centerfold? Hence, the age old joke about reading Playboy for the articles.

Even though Hef increasingly came across as the years went on as being a cartoonish figure surrounded by women young enough to be his granddaughters, we can be appreciative of the fact that he did introduce to the world some very hot women through the pages and later videos of Playboy. Among them Kendra Wilkinson, who paid Hef a very nice tribute.

Kendra Wilkinson Pays Tribute to Hugh Hefner: 'He Made Me the Person I Am Today'

Karen Mizoguchi

A devastated Kendra Wilkinson has paid tribute to her ex-boyfriend Hugh Hefner, whom she described as “an angel” in her life.

“Hef changed my life. He made me the person I am today. I couldn’t be more thankful for our friendship and our time together. I will miss him so much but he will be in my heart forever,” Wilkinson said in a statement to PEOPLE.

Hefner peacefully passed away on Wednesday from natural causes at his home, The Playboy Mansion, surrounded by loved ones, according to a statement from the Playboy founder’s rep. He was 91.

Wilkinson, who was 18 when she first moved into the Playboy Mansion while Hefner was 78, spoke highly of the Playboy founder in her 2011 memoir, Sliding into Home.

“Staring into his eyes, I didn’t see a man four times my age with ten times more girlfriends than most,” said the former Girls Next Door star, who was featured on the E!’s reality series from 2005 to 2010.

“Even though I hardly knew him yet, I saw a sweet man who made me feel really good about myself – a true gentleman. It was weird, but in my heart, I felt like he was someone I could possibly trust.”

In October 2016, Wilkinson admitted how she worried daily about the thought of losing Hefner.

“I mean, I worry every day. He’s at that age and I’m not going to lie, every day I open up my social media and I pray that I don’t see what we think might happen,” she told E! News.

“He honestly is my family. I don’t even know how to say it. He’s an angel to me in my life. The day that comes will be devastating for me and my family,” she said.

IMHO, Hefner was a point man in the sexual revolution, along with Helen Gurley Brown...which has led to the destruction of the family...in 1965, 4% of white children were born out-of-wedlock, today it's 37%..black children are at 70% out-of-wedlock...the "Playboy Philosophy"..while probably wonderful for the rich man...who inspired it...has been devastating to the poor community...when compounded with the liberal tendency to throw money at problems...this is we're where at today...in the hood, kids at 5% math, 12% reading having kids...what real chance do these kids have?...this is the bitter harvest of the seeds sown by Hefner..."If it feels good, do it"...no consequences...right.

Sown by Hefner...you've got to be kidding. Didn't realize we had some porn loving prudes here on the forum! We're in the state we are today almost entirely because of liberals and their misguided policies. The morality of this country did not change because of one man.

Porn loving prude...more like, porn addicted prude...the fact that I watch porn isn't something I'm particularly proud of...as time goes by...I view it as a failing that I wish I could break.
