Good pick LezzyAmigo you had Cleveland in 6, close enough. An NBA champ, Trump coronation. The excitement in the rust belt is building.

Thanks. After 52 years of futility and frustration, Cleveland finally rocks from a sports standpoint.

An NBA championship AND the Republican National Convention, BOTH in the same summer? It doesn't get any better than that!

Now if only the BROWNS can turn it around this autumn, Lezfriend!

I'm happy for the city of Cleveland and its fans!

'Now if only the BROWNS can turn it around this autumn.'

Seems unlikely Anon given the Browns recent history. But it would be difficult to use the word NEVER considering some of the strange things we have witnessed.

For instance, imagine if you were to tell a Cleveland Cavaliers fan (quite a few of whom were burning their LeBron Number 23 jerseys) the following in the summer of 2010 after LeBron James left town for Miami:

-LeBron would be back playing for the Cleveland Cavs within 5 years time.

-The first year LeBron returns, the Cavs would go from being one of the worst teams in the NBA to the Eastern Conference Finals only to come up short in 6 games to the Golden State Warriors.

-But the second year of James being back in Cleveland, the Cavs would return to the Finals against the very same Golden State Warriors (who by the way would break the single season regular season winning record by finishing 73-9) and in the process the Cavs would become the first team in the NBA to come back from a 3 game to 1 deficit in the NBA Finals in winning their first ever championship. Did someone say improbable?

Rumor has it LeBron could be taking his talents to Los Angeles to revive the Edmund Fitzgerald Lakers at the moment at the bottom of the NBA sea along with the New Yawks and Brooklyn's of the NBA world.

Cleveland is quaint, makes for a nice feel good story but the Bulls Lakers Knicks Nets are advertisers dream markets and I'm sure some posturing and plans are being cooked up to bring these teams out of a coma.

Jack Nicholson can't be happy the Clippers are the dominant team at Staples ....

I suppose anything is possible. But I very much doubt that LeBron would leave Cleveland once again following the PR nightmare, which was 'The Decision' Part 1 circa summer of 2010.

The biggest question concerning the destinations of NBA free agents to be IMO is whether Kevin Durant stays in OKC or not. I could see Golden State, Cleveland, and a number of other teams offering a whole lot of dinero to him. So we shall see if KD bolts OKC for greener ($$$) pastures.

3 Baltimore Cop trials 3 NOT GUILTY verdicts. Marilyn Mosby prosecutor is 0-3. This and the mayor of Baltimore paid out over 5 million $$ of Baltimore $$ to the dead drug dealers family , without one conviction of police cause of death.

It's easy to throw around $$ I guess when it's not your money. Insane gubment at work. That and the feds losing the Orlando shooters wife, no idea where she is, visa revoked ? Feds watching her, nothing Loretta ?

An estimated 250 Ice Picks were killed by U.S. airstrikes as they attempted to flee Fallujah Wed....this is way to go about things. Iraqi troops on the ground going door to door street by street while superior American technology and air power brings thunder from above.

After the Ankara attacks hopefully Turkey brings some boots to the proceedings.

And every western nation should make passports a one way trip if your leaving town for the holidays to join jihad and radicalize. Where's Homeland Security the State Dept. And the FBI pushing this strategy. Once Tsarneov one of the Boston bums flew from the U.S.he never should have been allowed to return, same as the Orlando slob.

As Trump says over and over, have to become smart and tough. PC on this issue should end Jan 20, 2017.

The progress in Fallujah by Iraqi forces is encouraging. But they really need to recapture Mosul.

Iraqi Forces Say Press Towards Key Air Base South of Mosul

Courtesy of Reuters

Iraq's military said it advanced through northern villages held by Islamic State on Wednesday, on its way to an airfield which could serve as the staging ground for a future offensive on Mosul, the biggest city held by ISIS.

Army and counter-terrorism forces recaptured Telol al-Baj, about 260 km (160 miles) north of Baghdad on the main north-south road on Tuesday, a senior commander participating in the offensive told Reuters.

U.S.-led coalition air strikes have helped repel suicide car bomb attacks, the commander said. Both sides have suffered casualties, but most ISIS troops have fled into the desert, he added.

The troops are now around 45 km from the airbase at Qayara, less than two weeks after they set out from the refinery town of Baiji, military officials said. Retaking another refinery near Qayara with a production capacity of 16,000 barrels per day could also hit Islamic State's finances.

The military's recovery this month of Falluja, west of Baghdad, lent fresh momentum to the campaign to recapture Mosul, Iraq's largest northern city and the biggest anywhere within the jihadists' self-proclaimed caliphate spanning large stretches of territory seized in Iraq and Syria.

Two years since that land-grab, the tide has begun to turn against Islamic State as an array of forces lined up against it make inroads into their territory. Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has pledged to retake Mosul this year.

Army troops advancing separately on the eastern side of the Tigris river from Qayara have made slower progress, taking a handful of villages since setting out from Makhmour more than three months ago.

Iraqi forces shelled Islamic State positions in Haj Ali on Wednesday in preparation for a ground advance that would allow them to reach the river bank, an army source said. They are expected to link up with the forces from the south near the air base, about 10 km west of the river.

Both offensives have so far displaced thousands of civilians from their homes, and the United Nations expects several thousand more to flee in coming days.

Upcoming military offensives in Iraq against Islamic State, including an assault on Mosul, could displace at least 2.3 million people, a U.N. official said last week.

I find military women such as these from the Caracal ( desert cat ) battalion of the IDF patrolling the Israeli Egyptian border in the Sinai to be stirring heroic and very compelling. It must get lonely and dark, kind of scary at night in the desert when it's just you and your tent mate. You go girls, doing a wonderful job !
