I always thought Bruce Arians was a really good coach in Arizona and Tampa Bay has made a really solid hire in getting him out of retirement. Conversely Arizona made a bizarre hire in Kliff Kingsbury a college coach with zero pro experience and modest success in a middle of the road Texas Tech program.

Speaking of strange coaching hires, the NJ Jets bring aboard Adam Gase as their new HC.

For a team in win now mode with a young, talented QB (Darnold), a #3 first round draft pick, and $100 million in free agent cap money to spend, why would you not hire a coach who was a proven winner in Green Bay over many seasons in Mike McCarthy instead of a long term coordinator who showed he is not ready for prime time in Miami?

But of course not the first time an AFC team not named the Patriots hired a recycled coach from a division rival. The most recent example being Rex Ryan who flopped in Buffalo after being shown the door by who else, the Jets.

I like the Adam Gase hire in New Yawk. Under Gase the Dolphins had made the playoffs then suffered when Tannehill at QB could not stay healthy the last few years. At the very least Gase had the second best team in the AFC East and he was QB coach when Peyton was the SB QB in Denver. He's young and can relate to Darnold. I think Mike McCarthy may be in the broadcast booth next season.

Vic Fangio the long time defensive coordinator who had the Bears ripping through teams this season takes over in Denver. Interesting they didn't go with an offensive coach which seems to be the flavor of the month. Got to get there $$ worth out of Case Keenum and that side of the ball, think Kubiak, Elways old chum is coming back to be the OC.

One thing for sure...Vance Joseph was clearly not ready for prime time...the lack of preparation by him and the half hearted performance by the players was painfully obvious. I think they went to Fangio for his extensive years as an assistant observing the whole picture, and no nonsense approach to the game, in spite of his lack of head coach experience. Teaming him up with Kubiak as OC could be a right move.

I feel good for Andy Reid and Chiefs fans. AFC Championship at Arrowhead next Sunday.

Alas this season is over in Dallas and the post game post autopsy talk shows are totally against Jason Garrett and his offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. Jerry however is of a different mind set Garrett should be signing a contract extension in due time.

The Rams defense is so so , not sure they could survive a trip to New Orleans.

Looks like Fangio wants to go in a different direction by not bringing in Kubiak as OC. This should be an interesting season for the Broncos, hopefully with some improvement. It appears they are interested in Mike Munchak for offensive line coach.

The home teams bounced back in a big way this weekend. Especially the Chiefs and Pats.

A couple of very interesting matchups next Sunday.

I will stay with my original prediction of Pats vs. Saints on Super Sunday.

But would not at all mind being wrong on either or both counts.

Gregg Williams is an excellent Defensive Coordinator and along with Adam Gase a nice young offensive mind as HC the Jets are headed in the right direction, for once.

Congrats to Team Brady/Belichick for yet another Super Bowl title (#6).

The game itself was yawner following what were two classic conference championship games two weeks prior.

Can we now say that Tom Brady is the G.O.A.T? (That is Greatest of All Time for those not familiar with the acronym).

Well the Broncos gave up on the Case Keenum experiment after one year. Not sure Joe Flaco a mid 30's no scrambling ability pocket passer is the answer. It's important John Elway get Flaco lots of help in draft with some linemen receivers and a dependable running game.

The Cowboys will now face Keenum twice a year as he takes over the Washington job in there nomadic quest for a QB.
