Well it's time for NFL football and come Thurs night the Chiefs open the season on the road against SB winner New England last seen making a miraculous comeback against the Falcons.

Can the Chiefs D slow down the Brady bunch and keep New England in the
20's. If the Pats score into the 30's say good night.

My season prediction is a Dallas Oakland matchup in the Next SB. We shall see.

Sylvester asks: "Can the Chiefs D slow down the Brady bunch and keep New England in the 20's?"

And now we know the answer, Sylvester!

The Chiefs SHUT BRADY DOWN right there in front of all of those Patriots' fans who showed up to watch another New England opening-day blow-out!

Kansas City is now a SERIOUS CONTENDER to be reckoned with in the AFC!

Alex Smith never looked that good before - I'm guessing that making another QB their first-round pick must have really lighted a fire under him!

- A great start to the new season... 42-27 the final!

As I predicted if the Chiefs could keep NE in the 20's they had a shot they did and they won. The beauty of a Thurs game is the players get to rest up 10 days before the next mission.

I agree...they have always been tough on the Broncos, and it looks like this year will be even harder. Also figure the Raiders to show up strong and we'll see how the Chargers have improved Monday night. I am predicting the Broncos WILL make the playoffs, but only by wildcard.

Have we finally seen the beginning of the gradual deflation of the Patriots balloon?  I'm sure they will make the playoffs, but that was a pretty serious wounding last night. Brady has become old and predictable...shapes up to be an interesting season.

I would be hard pressed to come up with a worse defensive effort by the Patriots in the whole Brady/Belichick era than they had against the Kansas City Chiefs. But having said that, the Pats should definitely dominate what is a subpar AFC East division yet again. But whether the Pats make it back to the Super Bowl very much remains to be seen.

Insofar as the KC Chiefs, I agree that they should be right in the thick of the AFC West race. The Oakland soon to be Las Vegas Raiders will be tough and the Denver Broncos can never be counted out because of their winning pedigree. As for the LA Chargers, they are a difficult team to root for after they bolted (pun intended) their loyal fanbase of many years in San Diego to play in a (at least for now) soccer stadium in LA.

Anyway, football is back as sexy Becky shows us.

Chiefs big win at NE came with a steep price. Eric Berry the 7 yr safety out for the season with Achilles tear. Next man up Andy Reid , who's on the depth chart ?

Speaking of injuries, as bad as the NJ Giants offense looked against the Cowboys, they probably did the right thing in not playing Beckham Jr. With 15 games to go on the schedule, better to rest the player in getting him fully healed rather than playing him at well less than 100% and risking more serious injury in losing him for the season.

Having said that, even though it is Game 1 a much needed win for Dallas in defeating a division rival who swept them last year.

Who thought the Houston Texans would stink it up against Jacksonville, not exactly the 67 Packers. Tom Coughlin running that show in Northern Florida already looking up.

And one rookie who stood out even in a losing cause was Notre Dame Alum and Brown Rookie QB DeShone Kizer. Cleveland may have its first legit QB since Bernie Kosar.

Speaking of the AFC South, the luckless Indy Colts get blown out by the LA Rams.

Not a good sign for a team that could find themselves positioned at the bottom of the division by the time Andrew Luck is projected to come back sometime in October.

Beth Mowins? Sergio Dipp? Was this crummy crew the best that ESPN can provide?? She sounded like some male high school sophomore.

I'm glad I've gone to recording these games on the DVR. Now I can fast forward through the commercials and inane talk, and just watch the highlights.

I thought Siemian looked pretty good...making faster and better decisions and his mobility makes it easier for him to scramble out of trouble. I'll watch the second half in a day or two and see what led to the second half breakdown.
